Pastor Paul Hoffman is no stranger to us at Central. He has been a frequent supply pastor over the years since his retirement from Phinney Ridge in Seattle, and many will remember the year in which he served as intern supervisor for Vicar CJ Boettcher.
Paul and his wife, Donna, live in Mukilteo. Donna is a reading specialist in the Shoreline School District, retiring from her teaching career at the end of this school year. They have two adult children who both live in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle.
Paul has just completed two years of service as organist at First Covenant Church in Seattle. In addition to this work, he has recently served All Saints Church in Big Sky, MT as sabbatical supply pastor. He is a frequent contributor to Augsburg Fortress publications, writing devotions of Christ in our Home and The Word in Season as well as A/F's Lenten and Advent devotional resources.
Across the years since his ordination in 1982, Paul has served congregations in Lincoln, NE, Allen, TX, Fremont, NE, and concluded his ministry as a parish pastor with 18 years of service at Phinney Ridge in North Seattle. He is the author of four books including Faith Forming Faith.
Paul comes to Central with a great sense of purpose and hope for our congregation's future and looks forward to leading us in an efficient and timely process toward calling our next pastor.
He will serve us 3/4 time during this interim, in order to continue to pursue the other interests listed above. One Sunday each month during his time with us we will be served by a supply pastor. Paul's thought on this is that being exposed to a variety of voices during the interim is a good tool in discernment for selecting our next leader.
Paul's contract with us, which will expire and be re-evaluated on 30 June, stipulates that the 1/4 of additional pastoral package not expended will be escrowed into a fund for future pastoral relocation or housing expenses and/or emergency aid for our Everett refugee community.
At least for now, you can reach Paul through email at paulhoffman56@gmail.com, or by phone/text at 206.972.9995.
